Jesse discovered music through his family. In particular, Jesse’s father Scott Leonard played a formative role in exposing him to pop music from different eras. In particular, he recalls hearing Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson as a child. “I guess something stood out to me about the king of pop’s music, because I apparently played Michael Jackson cassettes in my ‘Baby’s First Walkman’ until they were worn out.” Later on, he found the roots of rock n’ roll drumming in Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham. “I think Bonham will always be my favorite rock drummer; the style, tone, and just overall funkiness he brought out of drums and percussion shocks Zeppelin’s music to life!”. Because we’re a three-piece band, all the elements in our music are exposed – in particular, the rhythmic parts. We have a groove-driven sound, and it supercharges me to be a part of something so musically energetic,” says Leonard, commenting on how he fits into the band’s air-tight style of play.
